April Fools Day!!

A Little April Fools Day History

April Fools' Day or All Fools' Day is a day celebrated in various countries on April 1. The day is marked by the commission of hoaxes and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, enemies, and neighbors, or sending them on a fool's errand, the aim of which is to embarrass the gullible. Traditionally, in some countries, such as the UK, Australia, and South Africa the jokes only last until noon, and someone who plays a trick after noon is called an "April Fool".[1] Elsewhere, such as in France, Ireland, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Russia, The Netherlands, Brazil, Canada, and the U.S., the jokes last all day. The earliest recorded association between April 1 and foolishness can be found in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (1392). Many writers suggest that the restoration of January 1 as New Year's Day in the 16th century was responsible for the creation of the holiday, but this theory does not explain earlier references.

Foolish Questions

If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares,
why is there a song about him?

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made
from vegetables, then what is baby oil made from?

If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio
out of coconut, why can't he fix a hole in a boat?

Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

Who was the first person to look at a cow and say,
"I think I'll squeeze these dangly things here,
and drink whatever comes out"?

Why is it that when someone tells you that there are
over a billion stars in the universe, you believe them,
but if they tell you there is wet paint somewhere,
you have to touch it to make sure?

If a turtle doesn't have a shell,
is he homeless or naked?

Why do they lock gas station restrooms?
Are they afraid someone will clean them?

If man evolved from monkeys and apes,
why do we still have monkeys and apes?

How much deeper would oceans be
if sponges didn't live there?

The best April Fool's joke we ever played was on my kids. M and I sat them down after school and explained to them that grandma (strict disciplinarian) had fallen on hard economic times and was going to have to come live with us for awhile. That my 16 yr old daughter would have to share a small room with her 13 yr old brother so grandma could have her room. That grandma was bringing her cat and it would be locked up all day in my daughter's room. We couldn't hold the joke for too long though, the looks on their faces were absolutely tragic!
